Exoskeletons are not for anyone anytime

In recent years, exoskeletons have taken off on the international market. There are more and more models and new brands, and several countries are investing heavily in the technology. New studies and reports are also emerging that document how exoskeletons help people. They relieve the body during physical work and allow workers to endure heavy work for longer. They help people have more energy after a long day at work and contribute to a better quality of life both at work and after work. Although the technology is new and studies have not been able to examine the effects over a long period of time, there are good reasons to believe that with the correct use of appropriate exoskeletons, more people will be able to work without wearing themselves out and retire with enough energy to live the life they have dreamed of.

However, exoskeletons are not a miracle cure that should be used by everyone at all times. If you are relatively healthy and active and do not engage in work that wears out the body, an industrial exoskeleton will not be very useful. For example, there is no reason why healthy children and young people should use an exoskeleton.

Although there are many different types of exoskeletons on the market, most of them are suits, harnesses or devices that provide support and relief during repetitive work or demanding activities. In other words, they are a tool to help you perform work tasks with less physical wear and tear.

An exoskeleton for the shoulders and arms, for example, helps with tasks where the arms and hands are above navel level for long periods of time. An exoskeleton for the back and hips provides support when lifting and/or working in a forward-leaning position. If you do not perform these types of tasks, an exoskeleton will only get in the way.

An exoskeleton is a tool for a specific task, not a universal solution that can solve all problems. When used correctly, an exoskeleton is a great help, but do not use an exoskeleton just because you can. It is important to understand what the exoskeleton can be used for and whether it is suitable for your use. We at Eksonor can help you with that!
